Shaz - very good points. I too, never really took to either Timothy (who just seemed to want the best of both worlds) or Phillip.

Anne - Also a very interesting point... I may have to research it and get back to you. Of course, that will mean having to watch the episode again... what a bind!!!

In last Sunday's episode there was a reference to one of the sisters being able to vote because she was a householder. But women property owners did not get the vote till 1918 and it wasn't till 1930 that all women were able to vote. Also, would Dorcas not be prevented from standing for the council because she was a Post Office employee?

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually don't miss Philip or Timothy that much! Dorcas was never going to get out of that rut she was in whilst Sir Timothy was around and it wasn't fair to his wife to stay in the town. Also Philip turned out to be not so nice a character in the end, he had a really nasty possessive streak.

On the other hand, I do very much like the new hotel owner. Dorcas is really struggling as she both dislikes him and fancies him at the same time!
