Lark Rise To Candleford Episode 4 – Series 2

admin

Sunday 18 January
7.00-8.00pm BBC ONE

There are changes afoot for the residents of Lark Rise and Candleford tonight, as the popular adaptation of Flora Thomson’s memoir of her Oxfordshire childhood continues.

When an accident happens on the path joining Lark Rise with Candleford, Dorcas Lane and James Dowland clash once again.

The death of Miss Ellison’s father unites the two communities but, amongst the sadness, Miss Ellison is confronted with her brother, George, and a past she would really rather forget. Divided between her Christian values and her obligations to her late father, Miss Ellison struggles to know whether to follow her heart or her head.

The road is falling apart and needs to be repaired; George soon becomes the talk of the town when he steps in to help the residents of Lark Rise. James, again wanting to utilise his business, is aggravated by George’s determination to “finish the job” without his help.

Meanwhile, overwhelmed with grief, Miss Ellison is oblivious to Thomas Brown’s affections for her and his desire for her hand in marriage. Dorcas and Emma do all they can to bring them together, but Miss Ellison must first learn how to forgive if she is to learn how to love.

Julia Sawalha plays Dorcas Lane, Jason Merrells plays James Dowland, Sandy McDade plays Miss Ellison, Oliver Dimsdale plays George, Mark Heap plays Thomas Brown and Claudie Blakely plays Emma Timmins.

Lark Rise To Candleford is also being simulcast on the BBC HD channel – the BBC’s High Definition channel available through Freesat, Sky and Virgin Media. With up to five times more detail than standard definition television, HD gives you exceptionally vivid colours and crisp pictures to make Lark Rise To Candleford a truly cinematic TV experience.

Could you please tell me the schedule for this series. You give lots of other information, but not the most important for the viewer. I watched the first episode last Sunday, and expected the next would be Sun 28. but it is not, and I can find no information of when it will be.

Hi

What a great episode last night. Lots going on, and great to see the storylines with the children. The character Sally played a great part. It must have been hard acting that you had a dislocated arm. Well done to the little girl who played her. Great talented little girl.

Really enjoy watching Lark Rise. Sunday evenings arent the same without Lark Rise. Roll on next Sunday.

Bex.

Lark Rise to Candleford is a simply enthralling series! The entire story line of the episode of 18 January 2009 was particularly excellent – at times so humorous, yet with a serious and thought provoking side as well. I cannot recall a series that has been so consistently good, with excellent acting that makes for sheer enjoyment! Not many programmes that I sit down to watch with my spouse of many years, but we certainly agree that the BBC has scored highly on this one! Was captivated by Miss Margaret and her brother (he with the richest voice!) and the difficult relationship between the two – it was very well played out by both, not to mention the hilarious performance of Miss Margaret’s suitor, Thomas! Full marks to the BBC and let’s have a lot more of such delightful drama!

Trevor, I read recently that it was owing to other filming commitments. She’s been doing her final stage tour with French and Saunders too :-)
