Lark Rise To Candleford Episode 7, Series 2

Sunday 8 February

8.00-9.00pm BBC ONE

When Robert’s work tools disappear while he is enjoying a relaxing summer afternoon with his children, it tips the Timmins family into financial despair, as BBC One’s charming adaptation of Flora Thompson’s childhood memoirs continues. Much as Emma tries to comfort and buoy up her dejected husband’s spirits, a stonemason without his tools cannot work, and Robert is forced to take on the most basic of tasks.

When family and neighbours rally to help restore Robert to his position as a craftsman, his pride bristles and his stubborn nature makes things worse: with poverty biting, something must be done.

Time weighs heavily on blossoming romances in Candleford. As preparations for the grandest of inauguration celebrations for the new town clock gather pace, James Dowland’s courting of Dorcas may be beginning to bear fruit when he bestows upon her a very special privilege.

The countdown to the clock unveiling also weighs heavily on the amount of time Fisher and Laura have left together. When the clock is finished, he is determined to leave Candleford. Will his love for Laura persuade him to change his mind?

Brendan Coyle plays Robert Timmins, Claudie Blakley plays Emma Timmins, Jason Merrells plays James Dowland, Julia Sawalha plays Dorcas Lane, Matthew McNulty plays Fisher Bloom and Olivia Hallinan plays Laura Timmins.

I am totally, completely and utterly i love with this show!

‘Just stumbled across this website and I want to say hello to all of you out there who ‘suffer’ from the same addiction ;-)

I have always been a great fan of period dramas and screen adaptions of classical novels (THANK YOU BBC… what would my life be without you!)
When I first started watching the show I didn’t even like it that much. I guess the only thing that kept me watching was the character of Dorcas Lane (yes, she IS magnificent!). But episode by episode the show kinda grew on me and by the end of season one I was so fond of all the characters, their stories, their sorrows and joys.
I want this show to go on forever!

Are there any confirmed news yet if there will be a season 3?

Oh my god! Episode 7 has left me literally bereft! I was in tears when i watched it, i went to bed upset and I still am 2 days later.. ok, maybe I seem to be over reacting but FISHER BLOOM CAN’T LEAVE LAURA! They were so lovely! I was so mad with her dad, grrrrrrr! i really really hope he’ll come back.. I can’t believe I’m taking this so seriously but i just had to get it out there..!

I think I was born in the wrong period! Oh how I would loved to have lived like that with the fabulous fashion (I’m thinking along the lines of Dorcas Lane, not the Pratt sisters!!!) , and there’s a respect and politeness and ‘properness’ about their lives that doesn’t exist today.

I absolutely LOVE this show and think that a week is far too long between episodes!

Nadine, you speek my thoughts exactly! I really didn’t think the show was that good to start with but I felt a need to know what would happen to Dorcas (she really is wonderful) and now I’m obsessed! My only problem is I’m not living in the UK anymore and can’t watch it on iPlayer… Oh, what a struggle.

@Hanna: I know your struggles! I also don’t reside in the UK. Its really a shame that they don’t let you access the videos on the BBC site when you life outside the region.
But desperation makes you inventive so I found a way to get to my weekly dosage of Lark Rise ;-)
Hello my Name is Nadine, I am an addict…

Nadine, I must confess: I have as well… Admittedly it would probably be best for me if I hadn’t (and my friends and family, who unfortunately do not share this addiction and therefore cannot understand me constantly getting distracted by Candleford business). Well what can I do, I need my weekly dose or… well… and don’t remind me about what’s happening in less than three weeks because I ain’t havin’ it! (Or, actually, I’ll just start from the beginning and rewatch it all…)

I was affected by the fisher business too.
I live in hope that he will come back saying “I can’t live without you Laura” (i LOVED the way he said her name) he emphasized the LAU..
i’m smitten, but i think we should all write the director weekly letters demanding it be re-written into the script.
There are too many people coming and going in the series’s and they make you fall in love with them and then take them away.
I’m from Australia so natually i got the series from Youtube, but we had to order online from england even to get them…
Your not alone!
I think her father was really unreasonable…
