Series 4 of Lark Rise to Candleford?

With the BBC making cuts to it’s period output.  Will we ever see a Series 4?

Rumours say it will be only 6 episodes, but we don’t know if even that is certain.

Do you know anything? Should they quit on a high?

Any ideas what they should have in the next series, apart from Alf’s Wedding?

I adore this series. It’s one of the best dramas I’ve seen on television in the last few years. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed and cried so much over any other tv series. The team who made this series deserve all the success they get. I’ll be so sad if episode 6 is the last of Series 4 but it was a brilliant end if it was. Wow, please make something similar again soon….

What a scandalous way to treat one of the absolute BEST programmes on TV in the past three/four years .. it’s bad enough only having six episodes, let alone finding out that it’s the last ever !!
Pease, Please … Dont let it die .. not yet, Larkrise has become a national institute ..
The topics covered, and the answers to many dliemna’s have real meaning and are as relevant today as they would have been in the victorian times..
What do we have to say to get those in charge at the beeb to reconsider …

I would be so pleased if you would continue this delightful series. I have enjoyed it so much. I know many also here in the US with me who have looked forward to each new episode of Larkrise. There is really nothing else like this series out there and we are all really saddened to see it end.

This is what the BBC does best and that the public of Britain are proud to have the best television service in the world, why buy in inferior programmes when
they produce such wonderful programmes as Larkrise to Candleford please please make another series so we have something wonderful to look forward to.

Please Please Please make a series 5 of Lark Rise to Candleford. It is such a gentle Sunday night series set in beautiful surroundings with a wonderful cast. I have watched it from series one and look forward to it each week. There is nothing else like it on television and when I watch it, it makes me wish we could all live in a much slower, friendlier, time when people worked and lived alongside each other in a community that cared. Please don’t let this series end.

How sad to see Larkrise axed for new drama, sometimes new is simply new and not necessarily better .We live in difficult times where appreciating life’s simple pleasures, seeking harmony before conflict and supporting one another is as important as ever before.
Alf and Minnie’s country wedding with wild flowers and home made fare would have shone every bit as brightly as a testament to marriage as the lavish spectacle we shall witness in April .
No doubt we can look forward to more scenes of family breakdown, more violence, discontent and the horrors of war no wonder a brief hour of pastoral harmony has been such a welcome relief to so many viewers.
Someone at the BBC has failed to recognise the value of what they have and the potential that this series still has to offer, perhaps it is the same person that turned away another script with a simple storyline entitled The Kings Speech.

I have enjoyed 98% of Larkrise and seen them all – fantastic. Absolutely ideal Sunday evening viewing. Why do all the decent, non violent, clean language, fascinating, well directed best programmes get taken off?
I’m told there were 8 million viewers – we can’t all be wrong to enjoy this.

Larkrise is brilliant! BBC don’t know when they get it right. All you want to do, is sit down on a Sunday Evening and relax. This is what Larkrise did. The last episode was wonderful, why does the BBC have to change a winner. I bet they love this series in America.
Don’t kill off Larkrise to Candleford! a travesty.

My husband and I have watched every episode – so much better that the stupid reality programmes that seem to swamp todays TV and the depressing programmes such as Eastenders and Casualty – where is the escapism? The chance to sit back and lose oneself in beautiful scenery, brilliant acting and the slow pace of life. We pay for the TV licence isnt it about time we chose what we want to see!!

Pearls of wisdom in all the advice given, by docas, emma and Quinie – concerning human behaviour, needs, the heart and emotions, etc. One thing Quinie said was that “people need people”; that is why Facebook and Twitter are so popular – people wanted to connect to one another. As for Dorcas, she finally realised she needed to be forgiving and also not to let love pass her by. Pity James Dowling who gave up his riches for Dorcas in vain. We will watch it again. Happy ending.

So the BBC is given to change for change’s sake in this fast moving world of change. They cannot hold on for a little longer to something that is beautiful. “Ask for the old path…”

I am horrified that the BBC have axed such a wonderful programme. Beautifully shot, fabulous costumes and a glimpse of a life gone by.
It was like those lovely Sunday afternoon series you used to watch as a child. Shocking that something this brilliant was on their hit list.

I agree with all the peoples comments that this series has brought so much happyness to people in this troubled world. Is this another bit of incompidence from the once sensible and world respected BBC. The wrong people in the job? Come on get with your customers … your viewers and see what they want ! Why kill a good thing when its booming? People need and like a slower, peaceful and respectful way of life as shown so well in this production. Please Director General lisen to the people!

Let’s face it… the International controlling elite don’t want us to view that which will bring peace and harmony to our lives. Instead, they want us to be indoctrinated with that which promotes violence and perversion. In their eyes, ‘We the sheople’ don’t deserve the good in life, but only that which keeps us under their herding control. I don’t know anything about the new controller with BBC, but it seems obvious that he has probably been told what to show, and what not to show, and he has either succumbed to their manipulation and threats, or he is ONE OF THEM and is helping to perpetrate the plot of brainwashing the masses, indoctrinating us with their deceptions. But there is a way to make our voices heard – hit them in their power – their pocketbooks. Quit watching the trash they put out for the suckers; quit buying their garbage. Every time we buy something, we are putting in a vote. What sells is what they’ll keep putting on the market. If we purpose to only buy that which is edifying, and leave their garbage out there to rot… we could eventually break their bank – in whatever area we choose. That’s the way to let our choices be known. Vote “NO” to the trash and “YES” for the wholesome and good! Stand firm ye Lark Rise fans! I’m encouraged to see so many who appreciate the wholesome in this day and time, when there is so much UGLY on every side. God the Judge is still on His throne, and the hammer is about to come down! I’m so glad to have Lark Rise… on DVDs to watch over and over – such a blessing! We haven’t watched TV in our home for 25 years – who needs it?! Sounds like you folks in the UK would save a bit of money by not paying for TV service. Just buy the decent DVDs for your viewing enjoyment. Try it and give yourself some peace. – Kamele – Georgia, uSA

We love, love, love Larkrise to Candleford in America. The characters are so dear and lovable. Let me say to the BBC, thank you for this wonderful program I and many of my family members have been enjoying LRTC from the beginning. Why wouldn’t you want to continue this uplifting and beautiful program especially since there are so many fans of the show? It has everything going for it….it’s funny, the characters are all great and there are so many storyline possibilities. I however haven’t seen this series 4 everyone is talking about. I hope it’s coming here and I haven’t missed it. Larkrise to Candleford is a real gem of a program. Please don’t end it yet.

Lark Rise to Candleford is the best drama on BBC; it always ends with a moral. To axe this program is an insult to all devoted viewer’s, especially as Alf and Minnies wedding hasn’t even been shown as yet! With the unsettled world we live in today, at least the issues shown in these episodes are dealt with amicably.

When I was a little girl, I found a dog-eared antique book in my Grandmother’s attic. It was entitled Girl of the Limberlost. I spent a wonderful summer in the attic reading about a young girl who grows up in the Limberlost Forest and develops a love of the forest and its flora and fauna, its teeming butterflies, and the music of the wild.
Now I have found Lark Rise to Candeleford. I have only seen season three, but already I have learned real life lessons in community solidarity, women’s rights, the difference between romance and love, and the strivings of the different classes to make their way in the world. I love these characters as if they lived next to me. Their stories are now my stories. It pains me to see this series is ending. I am so sad to see the BBC “moving on” abandoning what is best about the power of film to take us back in time and forward into considerations of what most matters. These stories are becoming fewer and fewer, replaced by sensationalism and fast action, forgetting the slow chapped vagaries of the human heart.

I am so very disappointed that the BBC feels that the time for period pieces is over. Lark Rise To Candleford is one of the best that that the BBC has produced. I live in the USA and many many of my friends fell love with series. I hope that that whoever makes these decisions will reconsider ending this series. There are so few programs that you can watch with your family and not be afraid of what will appear on the screen.

Well we are obviously not such a small minority who relish a show without endless violence and unlikeable people , always in trauma etc. etc. as pretty much all ‘modern’ series are. their usual focus is on crime/murder/death or rotten relationships with plenty of cheating, lying, misery. hurray for candleford! where you can leave each episode feeling good and with a bit more hope in your heart for human kind.

PLEASE CONTINUE THIS SERIES!!!!!

Are you kidding me? I ensure that I have everything in place (dinner cooked, clothes ironed, bag packed for work for the next day, etc.) to ensure I can prop myself up without interruption when I get ready to watch Larkrise on a Monday evening. No interruptions allowed. Please, please don’t play with my emotions. This is really a good program and it shouldn’t end on this note.

I am so disappointed to learn that the BBC has decided to stop producing Lark Rise to Candleford!

Last year we visited Blists Hill Victorian Town in Ironbridge, Shropshire, UK and had such a great time walking through a town similar to Candleford and talking to the town’s “inhabitants” about the characters in the series. It was really a uniting experience for Yanks and Brits.

There seem to be fewer and fewer programs worth watching – such a shame to pull the plug on this great series. Perhaps they will change their minds as they did with All Creatures Great and Small.

and loved. In the beginning I tried to catch it whenever I saw it was on then I started to DVR it and looked forward to watching it. I noticed it didn’t show any
upcoming shows to record. I do hope that it is not gone forever. I love the show and hope to see more of it.

I just don’t understand the reasoning of the people who made the decision to cancel the Lark Rise series. Why did you bother to start the series? What purpose is there for one to order the dvds when there is only four seasons? You put all of that money into and don’t finish the series, unbelievable! Only if it’s a flop do you do that. We love English dramas and depend on England (BBC) for keeping them coming to Canada. Change your mind and keep filming please, What a thing to tell the world that England doesn’t finish what they start, we were always taught differently.Do what the people want, after all it’s them that keeps you business, isn’ it? In Canada, we have CBC and many times they run out of money making dramas, but they always continue on when the funds come available to complete the series if it is popular.
Sincerely, D.Partridge

I live in Australia and pre-ordered series 4 which I love. I am English and this series is the best television programme I have watched in years and years. In fact, I do not usually watch television but my mother-in-law got me very hooked on this.
I love all of the characters (some more than others, of course) and I would be deeply, deeply saddened if there was not to be a series 5.
Why do they always feel the need to pull the plug on the timeless, beautiful scripts that use no bad language, no real violence etc etc.
I am not an old lady speaking this. I am a young 30 year old who lives for the purity of such things like Larkrise.
I truly hope we can enjoy a further series…or two….or more…

I good hooked on Lark Rise to Candleford a couple of years ago and absolutely love this show. Please tell me you are going to continue this show and follow-up with another series. The time period for which this series was written is so very interesting and the people in those two townships are wonderful. I cannot wait from one week to the next for this show to come on. The writers tell a great story and I laugh and cry with all of them. I do hope the BBC will listen to those of us who love this story and continue it, and not let it die!!

In consideration that we are expected to pay a license fee, it is utterly staggering how the BBC think it is acceptable to axe tv series despite their popularity. If the BBC does axe a series because it drops in ratings somewhat, does it really matter if there are so many who adore a programme? Though I’m not sure if that is the reason for stoping LRTC? If the reason to stop is to `finish on a high` – don’t you think it is up to the viewers to decide when to stop? It was bad enough when the BBC axed Survivors, but axing Lark Rise to Candleford is ridiculous. It is a popular and well made show teaching many morals for today which families are watching together. Surely the BBC should realise what benefits the TV series can bring to families who can discuss the issues raised in the programme? I have stopped watching Eastenders because of the depressing storylines – give me LRTC anyday. I think decisions to cancel programmes like LRTC show complete incompetance. The recent ratings for ITV’s Downton Abbey show that viewers want good costume dramas – surely the BBC should be playing its part and providing us with this and rivalling the other channels. Reconsider BBC and bring back Lark Rise!!!!

Please keep going on this, I would say there are many things to write about for many seasons to come. This is wonderful, and quite enjoyable to watch. I like quite a few friends and family have made this program a must see. Young and old alike watch this, a family oriented tv show. With all we watch in Canada I find that this brings us back to innocence, and a time when things were not only tough but there was spirit within all. The community feeling the strong story lines each individual person with so much to say, well I for one would like to see all of them raise families, have many children, and indeed keep larkrise in our hearts and in our minds, for this is the type of series that anyone can relate to. If coronation street can run for so long, I am sure with people’s imput then we can watch this not for just six season’s but for many years to come.
