Have just watched the last episode of series 3 on You tube as we can’t get the DVD here yet. My girls and I just love the series and can’t wait for series 4. Here’s hoping there will be 12 episodes and that Dorcas finally does find love.
Best series we have seen in years – Go the BBC – they restore my faith in television and that good programmes can still be made.

Bring back at least 4 more seasons. If they have the public’s support..why not?
Just as long as they kept up with the wonderful acting and story lines!..OH! and KEEP all the SAME actors and actresses. It drives me nuts when series change their cast…

~I buy from the UK and get my Larkrise seasons cheaper! They have great pricing.~

Ugh! Not James! I want Timothy back! James wasn’t worthy of Dorcas. I saw no chemistry there.

@ Sherry- I prefer Sir Timothy generally, and for Dorcas, but I would like to see Sydney’s reaction to his father.

BTW, does anyone know where the church shown at Twister and Queenie’s wedding is in Series 2 episode 8?

The new series will be broadcast in the new year. They’ve been filming in June, August and September as far as I know, but probably in July too. Daniel and Laura better stay together…

I am hooked to this beautiful period piece. Quality work at it’s best. Started watching it on PBS here in Canada. Got my husband interested in it as well. I am so excited to hear Season 4 is on its way. I just hope PBS continues to broad cast it. Thank you for posting the previous three seasons on Youtube. Gave me a chance to catch up with any missed episodes. BBC keep up the good work.

YAY! I am so glad that they are filming Season 4. I can’t wait to watch the new episodes. I’ll have to wait extra long since we are in the US I guess. :( I have my friends and family now hooked on the show. It has the beautiful scenery and interesting characters and peaceful yet entertaining quality that we enjoyed with such classics like Anne of Green Gables. PS Fisher was bad news, and the actor looks like a young Robert De niro too…. she’s much better off with Daniel we think. haha. Although the original gameskeeper guy we thought was the most handsome because he looked like Prince William. :)

I watch it on Channel 30 in Atlanta (public TV). Don’t know how long it will be before Season 4 is broadcast here, if at all. They may decide not to pick it up again.

I LOVE THIS SHOW! JUST FINISHED SEASON 3 AND WAS VERY SAD TO KNOW THAT IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE END OF THE SHOW. THIS WAS MY SPECIAL TREAT IN THE EVEING; I WATCHED ONLY ONE EPISODES PER EVEING THIS WAY I WOULD HAVE SOMETHING SPEICAL OTHER THAN A PICE OF CANDY TO LOOK FORWARD TO! I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA AND HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS SHOW ON MY PBS STATION; MY PBS CHANNEL IS 28. I SAW THIS DVD ON AMAZON.COM AND PURCHASED SEASON 1 AND I WAS HOOKED! I WOULD LIKE SIR TIMOTHY TO RETURN TO LARK RISE AND DORCAS. IF ANY ONE KNOWS THE DATE OF SEAON 4 RELEASE PLEASE POST IT ON THIS WEBSITE.

Just finishing up watching the first season on DVD. We borrow them from the library system so there is no cost involved. Looking forward to watching seasons 2 and 3. The period settings, characters and story-lines are most enjoyable. Very happy to hear that BBC will continue the series into season 4.

Love this series too! So clean and packed with wisdom. Are they really going to have a series/season 4? I don’t see anything else online about them filming or releasing it, but I’m almost finished watching season 3 and want reassurances that there’ll be more!!!!!

With regard to Dorcas ‘needing’ to find love, I like the idea that she is a strong, independant woman – way ahead of her time! I personally wouldn’t like her to sacrifice her integrity just to feel the strong, warm arms of a man. If she has to find a significant other, I’m sure it will be someone at least equal to her strength and wisdom. Can’t say there have been any men in the series that have come close. Hmmm. I did think for a second that the teacher in series one was a suitable candidate, but, obviously, he had his issues. I can’t help thinking that much of her inner strength comes from being a kind of goddess-like creature. And, as we know, there are few mortals who can satisfy the needs of a god/goddess.

Lark Rise is wonderful….every character a joy to watch.
I cannot decide which character I like best. I missed a lot of the episodes of season one, but fortunately received season one and two for my birthday. I have watched them both twice now.

I will be getting season three for Christmas, and hopefully our local PBS station will have the good sense to air season four in a timely manner. Nevertheless, as soon as it hits the market I will have it.

Lark Rise has helped me get through a recent health crisis with a close relative…an escape from hospitals, doctors, and the stark realities of living in an age of indifference.

I am thankful for a series where the townfolk support and care about one another-even when they disagree-they never let each other down.

I am hoping for many more seasons……….

I happened onto Lark Rise to Candleford on television midseries during season one here in South Carolina, USA. It immediately became the point around which I planned my weekend activities. I’ve never done that before, which attracted my family’s attention. My entire family watches it now. The characters live in our hearts. we’ve bought all three series on DVD. Come on BBC…please, don’t take this exquisite series from us. Lark Rise is virtually the only thing worth watching on television in this era of reality series cop-outs.

Does anybody in the production company or BBC read these comments? Lark Rise is such a popular program, and is so well acted and written how could they think of canceling it. Of course money is the bottom line but doesn’t the public have some influence?

in the 5th series if its not happened in the 4th, timothy’s wife must die during childbirth and so he returns and takes dorcas. also this shoe maker comes to candleford and marries pearl as ruby comes back to help in the shop again. Those are the two main things i think, along with laura marrying daniel. I love this series so much, they have to keep in going for the next 70 years!!!

PEOPLE IN THE U.S. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY A REGION FREE DVD PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!! Simply go to videohelp.com, scroll down to dvd hacks on the left, and enter your dvd player model #. The instructions are simple….. and you will make your player region free. I have dvds from the UK and the US, and they all play beautifully.

I LOVE Lark Rise!!!!!! I am sad, as many others are, because I just watched the last episode of series/season 3. I have no more new shows to watch, but am quite ready to start all over again on series 1. Here’s hoping the DVD for series 4 will be released soon, as we have not gotten the series on our telly.

Any of you know how soon a dvd appears? Do they wait months, or years, to release the dvds in the UK????

Just finished Season 3 on Youtube, thank you very much. Watched the first two on Netflix. The best show I have seen in a long time. And basically no violence. Love every character. Sunday 9 January 2011 – BBC ONE and BBC ONE HD
BBC One’s popular winter-warmer Lark Rise To Candleford returns for a fourth series, teeming with its usual wit, intrigue and romance. Its vividly drawn, much-loved characters continue to delight and entertain.

The series opens with the arrival of Gabriel Cochrane, played by Richard Harrington, and sees the return of Dawn French’s character, Caroline Arless, later in the run.

Gabriel is the handsome and once-wealthy owner of a large iron foundry. But after the bankruptcy of his business and the death of his new wife, Gabriel finds himself both penniless and homeless. Moved by his plight, Dorcas offers him a job as a blacksmith, and a room above the forge. But both she and Gabriel know that the solution is only temporary. Gabriel is determined to regain his wealth and position and bring down the banker, Steerforth, who he believes acted illegally and unethically in repossessing his home and business.

Over in Lark Rise, Emma is thrilled to receive a postal order from Robert, who is away working in Oxford. The hard-earned money will settle her many unpaid bills. She sends Edmund to Candleford to cash the postal order, and although it is a breach of procedure, Dorcas agrees to allow him to collect the money in place of Emma. That night, on his way home to Lark Rise, Edmund is robbed and arrives home to deliver the devastating news that all the money is gone. How will Emma manage with five mouths to feed and no money coming in? And when she discovers the truth behind the robbery, she is faced with an agonising dilemma.

Pearl Pratt, meanwhile, is delighted to have her beloved sister Ruby back home. Her romance with the Pontefract undertaker is apparently over – Ruby dissolves into tears at the mere mention of his name, but will not say what has happened. While Ruby has been away, Daniel has settled in nicely at the Pratts, and Pearl is spoiling him rotten with steam puddings and starched collars. Ruby resents being usurped by Daniel, but Pearl is oblivious and lavishes all her attention on him.

Dorcas feels utterly responsible for the robbery, and resolves never to meddle again – something which Minnie points out will be very hard for her. So when she hears from Steerforth that Gabriel’s business and home are up for auction and that Gabriel’s story of the bank’s wrongdoing is not as simple as it appears, she has to fight the urge to get involved. But when an intervention with Ruby helps her friend come to terms with her doomed love affair, Dorcas finds that her involvement is more appreciated than she thought.

When Gabriel announces his plans to disrupt the auction of his foundry by publicly denouncing Steerforth, risking the ruin of his own reputation and future, she decides to try to help Gabriel face his demons and accept his own part in his downfall.

Gabriel, though, seems deaf to her pleas for sanity, so when the day of the auction arrives and Gabriel is nowhere to be found, Dorcas fears the worst and races to try to stop him carrying out his disastrous plan. But will she succeed, and will Gabriel embrace a new life in Candleford?

Richard Harrington plays Gabriel Cochrane, Julia Sawalha plays Dorcas Lane, Paul Ritter plays Mr Steerforth, Claudie Blakley plays Emma Timmins, Thomas Rhys Jones plays Edmund Timmins, Matilda Ziegler plays Pearl Pratt, Victoria Hamilton plays Ruby Pratt and Ben Aldridge plays Daniel Parish.

Lark Rise To Candleford is simulcast on BBC One HD on Freesat channel 108, Freeview channel 50, Sky channel 143 and Virgin Media channel 108.

The only show on TV that I make a point of not missing. This show is of such high quality that It is hard to remember its equal. I have never before organised myself around a TV show but I absolutely love it. From the wonderful characters to the home spun philosophy. I would like to congratulate the BBC and all the people associated with this show from the marvelous actors to the production crew that help bring this to life. Joy of joys another season!I just hope it is on at a more reasonable time on UKTV in Australia
