I love this show soo much. It was my guilty pleasure after a hard work week. Too bad BBC doesn’t show enough of its materials in the US. It seems like lost marketing.. I had to watch the whole show online to see it relatively new. I will buy the DVDS later…

Could someone tell me if Lark Rise to Candleford is derived from a book, and if so, who is the author? I love the show & have discovered it on our OPB station here in Oregon on Friday nights at 9PM.
Thank you.

@Karenn- There are 4 Larkrise books, all by Flora Thompson, ‘Lark Rise’, ‘Over to Candleford’ and ‘Candleford Green’ the other one is called ‘Heatherly’ but I’m not so sure about the last one, because it says it’s the lost sequel to larkrise to candleford.

Absolutely LOVE this show! I was so glad to hear there will be a fourth season – what would I do without Dorcas, Laura and the rest????? I fully admit a secret crush on Robert Timmons…………..

I want to thank the individuals involved in the production in any way of Flora Thompson’s works, all of which my family and I have so enjoyed over the past few years. Our PBS station has been showing “Lark Rise to Candleford” which is a beautiful study in the workings, dealings, interactions of ordinary people who become so real to the viewer because of the truth of the presentation. We also enjoyed “Cranford” and yearn for the story to continue. “North and South” was powerful and such a strong depiction of the times and those who had to maneuver within those events. Thank you for sharing Flora Thompson’s vision of life because it enriches us all.

“Lark Rise to Candleford” is one of the best all-around series I’ve ever watched. Excellent casting, Julia Sawalha is wonderful!!; intricate characterizations; excellent story lines that are real and meaningful, as well as touching and funny; wonderful camera work; realistic settings; and a deep sense of belonging to these communities. Such a refreshing change from all the dark, intense, shallow stories and characterizations on regular TV. BBC has a winner here!

Someone above wrote that this series was her guilty pleasure. Mine too, and I was so guilty that I had to start folding my laundry while I was watching to justify it. The innocence, the connections, the deep & thoughtful problem solving, the time and care taken on simple tasks… its a time gone by, never to return. Something to think about when we sit our kids down in front of computers and cell phones that foster none of this and offer easy simple solutions in a surreal environment.

Where is Brendon Coyle? I want to see Robert Timmons back!

Has his character been phased out?
May quite watching if it has……
